Reminisce Design Team Submissions 2009

So Exciting: I've been waiting for the Design Team call from Reminisce for quite a while...I have a few projects to submit, a few cards, and a few layouts.

Barnyard Buddies just needed to have a mini-album made out of it for my niece who's about to turn 3! These adorable farmyard friends are fun and inspiring to work with which is why I loved making this chipboard flip album filled with all the usual farm animals: chicks, piglets, cows, sheep, and horses perfect for little hands to hold. I think Sarah is going to love it:

This is a project using small candy jars and the Christmas Time papers released in 2009. Also, some of the Reminisce glitter alpha stickers. I love how shiny they are. I "Believe" I'll have some more candy...

Julianne loves her dog LB about as much as any young girl could! For this layout I used the Signature series dog papers and some of the Valentine line "Be Mine" die cut glitter paper.

The Vacation papers and stickers from the Signature Series was the perfect match for our mini-golf vacation pics!

The Monster line from Reminisce is beyond fun! My kids both "oooed" over it when I showed it to them. I love the huge variety of stickers, and sayings, and the fact that the papers are double sided made it so easy to work with (and economical too!)

August

Wow! The summer is flying by...I haven't posted on the blog for quite some time so here is a quick run down on our activities since June 1. Our family has been all over the mid-west this summer to visit relatives in Indiana (Congrats on your graduation Liz! My finger is almost better almost), family in Wisconsin for July 4th, visited almost every place Laura Ingalls Wilder lived in the Midwest (WI, MN, IA, and SD), and of course our annual trip to visit friends in WI for the "Pool Party". It has been a fun ride!

Mark and I have been on a "get rid of the clutter" rampage this weekend. We've thrown out, reorganized, and cleaned places that haven't seen daylight since we moved into our home in Sept. 2000. Yikes! I think I could have actually measured some of the dust with a yard stick.

We visited our friends the Lincoln's in Springfield last weekend.

We had a great time learning the history of our country's 16th president. The Lincoln Presidential Museum downtown Springfield, IL was well worth our time. As you can see our kids fit right in with the Lincoln's family! I would recommend this trip to anyone with school age children. Some highlights included seeing one of Lincoln's stovetop hats, articles of his clothing, theatrical performances and other interesting facts about Abe Lincoln's life and the time period in which he lived. We also stopped at Lincoln's home in downtown Springfield, the Monument where most of the Lincoln family is buried, and Lincoln's New Salem.

10th Annual Soup Nazi Party

Mark and I hosted the 10th Annual Soup Nazi party at our house last weekend. It was also Charlie's 8th birthday! We had a lot to celebrate: our friend Andy Okapal turned 50 on Jan. 12, 2009, so we sang the birthday song several times. Terry B. made a wonderful batch of homemade bread as a tribute to his wife, Patti, who passed away on Dec. 21, 2008 after a three year battle with brain cancer. Patti always made wonderful bread 1/2 wheat 1/2 white with real Wisconsin butter! This was our first "Soup Nazi" without Patti. Her wonderful laugh and sense of humor were missed. We all tried to hold back the tears and remember the fun times with Patti. I loved getting a group photo of with Patti in it from Kelly showing our last shopping trip together in Door County, WI in Sept. 08.

There was a variety of soups this year: cream of mushroom, vegetable beef, tortilla, seafood bisque, and a seafood trio with a tomato base and Terry's homemade bread. German Chocolate Cake and smiley face cookies were served for dessert and then we all dropped into a food coma.

We enjoyed lots of laughs before dinner while we played "Andy Trivia". Gifts were awarded! Dr. Baxter was the big winner-knowing the most facts about Andy's 50 years.

We capped off the evening by watching one of the seventh season episodes of Seinfeld: Soup Nazi.

It was great to have everyone visit-thanks for making the trip to Iowa.

Puppy Cupcakes!

Julianne found the idea for these cupcakes in an American Girl book. We were on a quest to find all of the parts to make them. The puppy tongues are sticks of gum cut to the shape needed, smarties and jellybeans for the eyes, pretzel ears, and a jelly bean nose. Julianne had a blast making them.
