Copic Markers are alcohol-based markers that become acid free as soon as the alcohol dries. The thing that makes them different from water based markers is that they don't tear up the surface of the paper as you layer one color on top of another. This does happen with water based markers. Layering the colors is what will give your stamped image those awesome shaded areas!

Copic markers are available is several different types (Sketch, Copic, and Ciao among others). The difference between these types is the number of colors they are available in (The Sketch Marker is available in 358 colors, the Copic Marker comes in  214 colors, and the Ciao is available in 180 colors), their airbrush compatibility, nib types that you can use in them, and ink capacity in the barrel of the marker.

The Ciao Markers hold the least amount of ink and therefore are usually a little less expensive then the others. The Copic has the most nib choices. All markers are refilled with the same type of ink. Refills are available so NEVER through away your Copic Makers!!!

{Challenge} Using 6x6 Paper Pad

I absolutely LOVE the 6x6 paper pads manufacturers are coming out with! I love the smaller prints, love less waste, love having so many options! I recently picked up the new EP Note to Self 6x6 paper pad and created several cards and this layout using it:

I would like to give YOU a challenge to create a layout using ONLY 6x6 paper from paper pads. Let's see what you can create. Here's my 12x12 layout:

And here's a little closer look at some of the papers I used:

I placed two of the same papers together to create a 6x12" mat for my photo. I also cut a 6x6 piece into three 2" strips to create the scalloped border and die cut tab. The zig-zag piece is a sticker from the EP Elements sticker sheet that matches this line of papers. The larger flower was created using a Cosmo Cricket Gluber, burlap, and fabric strips with a Maya Road Bingo marker for the center. The doily was created using a Sizzix die.

I used several different colors to create more interest.

Hambly Studios was created over 35 years ago by Harry Hambly. Hambly was originally known for its screenprints, serigraphs, posters, greeting cards, and prismatic stickers. Most Hambly products are hand silk-screened at their studio in Santa Clara, CA. Today Hambly is known for it's innovative color combinations and eclectic designs.

Hambly screen prints are just one item offered by Hambly. They are acetate overlays that can be used in a huge variety of ways such as on layouts, cards, mini-albums, artist trading cards, and embellishments. They can be die cut, cut with scissors, written on, painted, they accept rub-ons, and the list goes on and on.

Today I am using a Hambly screen print from their Urban Chic Frames collection (black) to create a 4x6 mini-album. I've used two 4x6 frames cut from one sheet as the front and back covers of this project. I've also added a small 2x2" frame to the front cover of the mini-album, and another 2x4" frame as a see through page, and one tiny 1x1" frame as an embellishment cluster base on a page.
