Easter/Spring Copic Card class

March 12, 2014 from 6-8PM

 The Scrapbooking Studio, Moline, IL

We will be creating five cards using Inky Antics stamps and honeycomb papers, Crate Paper paper and embellishments, and tons more! Cards include two Easter themed, one birthday, one thank-you and one spring card.

 Join me, Shelly Maxwell, from 6-8PM on March 12, 2014 for a great evening developing your Copic Marker skills. Cost is $20/kit. (If you are unavailable to attend class a kit can be reserved for you to pick up at the store).

 We will be making three cards that incorporate Honeycomb papers like this:

 Crate paper paper and embellishments will be used along with many other trendy trinkets.

 We will be using the following markers in class: Y02, Y04, Y08, R30, R35, R39 G00, G02, RV21, RV23, RV25, RV29, RV93, RV95, E11, E13, E15, RV00, RV02, RV04, Colorless blender and the following Spica Glitter pens: Melon, Lemon, Pink, Orange. You will need to bring your own adhesive and I recommend a glue pen for this glass as well as pop dots (large and small). We will also use Cat Eye inks in the following colors: Sour Apple and Royal Blue.

"Family Stories" with Shelly Maxwell

The Family Stories line of embellishments and papers from Teresa Collins is HUGE and very versatile! Check out all of these card, mini-album and layout ideas you can create with all the goodies that are available at The Scrapbooking Studio in Moline, IL

All-occasion cards come alive with the Family Stories paper collection. The flower paper was used on the next two card fronts along with die cut paper for the flower along with Maya Road craft doily and rose flower center. The layers were pop-dotted for dimension. 

The "you and me" is from the Family Stories "Notecards" sheet along with this collection's enamel dots.

 The ribbon wrapped paper clip from Maya Road, decorative button for the flower's center and "Numbers" paper for the flower create a chic and trendy card for someone very special. The  Die Cut Accesories are used for the "love" and "together" and the "Noted" paper for the banner and people (card makers can fussy cut the people from the paper and use a glue pen to adhere border to the card front).

And the final card was created by embossing the cardstock with a wood grain embossing folder and inking it. I cut the "You and Me" journaling card and circle with people from the Die Cut Accessories sheet, added the two eyelets to the top and "hung" it on a Maya Road hanger with twine. The embellishment in the center of the card front are mounted to a bottle cap. Use glue dots to adhere it to the card front.

Family photos from a 2011 trip to St.Louis, MO trip were used  with a hand made mini-album and Family Stories line of papers and embellishments to create the next project. Here's the cover:

I used black die cut chipboard for the covers and the Bind-it-All  spiral to hold the album together. My daughter made the beaded rings that are attached to the black spiral binding for added cover embellishment.

I added a small bag to the front cover and placed a black chipboard tag in it to hold a few additional photos and placed a journaling card to the front of the bag. 

 The pages of the book are made up of Family Stories "File Folders" and papers from the Family Stories line.

 I also used the Decorative buttons, and enamel dots throughout the album

Lastly, I would like to share two layouts:

I loved being able to add sequins (a hot new trend), pop-dotted arrows, buttons, chipboard pieces, and die cut accessories to this layout, along with some washi tape.

The second layout uses Die Cut Accessories, Decorative Buttons, and a border strip from the "Noted" paper. I used pop-dotted black cardstock circles in the four corners along with photo corners, and enamel dots to anchor the page.

Join me, Shelly Maxwell, for class on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 from 6-8pm at The Scrapbooking Studio, Moline, IL Cost $20 Register by calling 309-736-7242.

 We will create five gorgeous cards using Graphic 45's line of papers "Sweet Sentiments" paired with tons of bloom, butterfly, and fairy stamps we will be coloring in class using Copic Markers. We will be reviewing basic color techniques during class.

 You will need to bring sharp pointy scissors, adhesive, pop dots, glue dots, Chestnut Roan brown cat eye ink pad to class.

 We will also be inking using Distress Ink in Peeled Paint and Peacock Feathers. I will have mine available to use in class. You may also use my Copic Markers if you would like.

The cards also feature wonderful ribbons and Prima flowers!

We will use the following markers in class: B32, B34, B00, B02, E01, E31, E33, BG32, BG34, BG72, BG75, G20 (this one is used a lot), G21, G24, Y32, Y35, Y38, BV02, BV04, V000, V01, V04, V09 (used just a littl bit), and clear blending pen. We will use Clear, Baby Blue, and Turquoise Spica glitter pens, and also Pearlized Top Coat from Smooch (you may use mine in class).

Valentine Projects with Echo Park's "Head Over Heels" Collection by Shelly Maxwell

Echo Park's "Head Over Heels" Collection of Valentine Papers and Element Stickers has arrived at The Scrapbooking Studio~Check out the flexibility of this paper line:

 You will be able to create to your heart's content with this versatile line of double sided papers. The collection is HUGE and offers great inspiration including journaling size cards that can be used to embellish both the fronts and insides of cards.

The adorable 12x12 Element sticker sheet that accompanies this line of papers leaves the card possibilities really diverse-allowing you to go masculine, feminine, young and old with the card themes. 

 Your imagination will spark as it creates layouts with this "Head over Heels" collection. I want to share a non-traditional Valentine themed layout-but the papers seemed to fit the occasion here because my children do love to ride horses. I used a Tim Holtz Alterations Word Play die to help create the title on this layout and a Tim Holtz Alterations Vintage Lace border die to create the small border. 

 I also used the Tim Holtz Alterations Paper Rosette die to create this embellishment:

 I LOVED the "I love you to the moon" title from the Elements sheet and I was able to use it on my second layout celebrating the 60th Anniversary of my in-laws. This layout is a bit more masculine because it uses the arrow and fringed notebook border stickers paired with Tim Holtz Alteratons Mini Gears and Gears set along with Ranger Inkssentials Foil tape sheets (gears).

 I pop dotted a few of the gears to add a bit more dimension to the layout.

 The final Valentine project I would like to share with you is a wooden tray I assembled using a Kaiser product I glued together with Zip Dry and then painted with Art Anthology Sorbe Dimensional Gel Pain in Red Velvet. The gel paint creates a textured glittery surface and dries really fast. 

 I measured the sides of the tray both inside and out and covered with paper from the "Head over Heels" collection. I used my Xyron to place adhesive on papers and make the project come together really fast.

 I cut a few flourishes using the Ranger Inkssentials Foil tape sheets and Tim Holtz Alterations die "Mini Flourish" to place on the handles and around two of the corners. I also wrapped the base with a narrow black ribbon and added a bit of twine and one Maya Road Vintage posie to the handle.

During class we will be creating five cards for Valentine's Day: A heart flip card, a heart shaped card, and 3-D HoneyPOP card using Honeycomb paper from InkyAntics. We will also be creating a flower using Glubers and Honeycomb paper.
