{Cards} Adding the "Wow" Factor

Create a great "Wow" factor when you add a few beautifully fluffy flowers taken from Maya Road's ribbons available at The Scrapbooking Studio. Make the card perfect for any occasion when you add Pebbles word stickers like the one below "Thinking of You". 

Woodgrain embossed cardstock is another great way to add that "Wow" factor to your cards! Cosmo Cricket's embossed cardstock papers (available in awesome pads) are the perfect thing to grab along with a Ranger sanding tool to bring out that inner texture.

Use a Copic marker to color clear acrylic Maya Road baubles like the one I've included here in the upper right corner of this 6x6 card. They work great on wooden pieces like the pretty butterfly above too.

 Use Copic markers to color Prima white flowers as well-that way they will match all your projects perfectly!

Blake, our newest addition, is ALWAYS looking for trouble! You would think we would learn to put our shoes away after loosing 4 different pairs in one week (some of mine included). Maya Road Bingo Markers used as anchors!

Shelly here with a one-page layout I created using several great items from the store; but I wanted to draw special attention to the Maya Road Bingo Markers on sale this week. The markers work great as embellishment anchors! (The wooden buttons from Maya Road are great for this too).  Here's my layout:

You can see that I used the bingo markers along the lower edge of the photo strip to anchor (connect) the photos & also to  visually create a triangle between the lower two and the upper marker on the right edge of the layout. TIP: Did you know that creating visual triangles across your layout creates interest for the viewer? Work in groups of three and see how many triangles you can create on your next card or layout. Items like the bingo markers from Maya Road really help guide your eye across the page creating visual interest.

{Project} Post-it Note Holder

Shelly here with a quick and easy project: Create a Post-It Note holder

1. Using an inverted 4x6 acrylic photo frame and Simple Stories Fab{U}lous papers cut a piece of patterned paper to fit into the frame.
2. Use a punch or die to create a layered pennant across the top of the holder.
3. Stamp the word "remember" on a small label piece of matching paper and adhere just above the banner. Place the patterned paper piece into the acrylic frame.
4. Place Bazzill clear bling on the exterior of the frame where the pennant pieces connect.
5. Wrap Twinery twine around the top of the frame and tie into a knot.

Remember: I attached the Bazzill bling on the outside of the acrylic frame.

This adorable holder looks oh-so-cute compared to the drab old pad all by itself!

Here's a card project I would like to share with you. I cherish my girlfriends! I work with a lot of them-they are a hard working group of women and I am amazed by their dedication every day. They are mostly teachers or associates who work closely with children ...
I would like those ladies to know how much I cherish knowing them, working next to them, and being able to call them "friends".
I created a "Thank You" flip card to share with one of them and ALL of you today:

Here's the "flip" side. 

I created this card using a Sizzix die, Hero Arts Stamps & Sizzix framelits dies, Simple Stories papers, Ranger liquid pearls , EK Success corner, tag, small corner, and label punches. I inked the edges using Ranger Distress ink. I'll write a personal message on the flip side later.

The Scrapbooking Studio May Copic Marker Card Class has been scheduled.

We will use the following Copic markers in class: YG41, YG45, YG63,YG67, YG91, YG95, R21, R22, R24 R27, R29, W1, W3, Blender pen, BG10, BG11, BG13, V04, V09, Y02, Y04, Y32, Y35, E 74, E77, E79, B00, B01, B41, B45. 

We will also use the following Atyou Spica glitter pens: Melon green, mint, pitch black, light purple, red, black.

Tools/Supplies to bring: glue dots, pop dots, pointy scissors, your favorite tape runner/adhesive

{Tips & Techniques} Embossed Papers

Embossed papers, like core' dinations core Impressions: Cosmo Cricket Neutrals Collection is a great way to add textures, dimension, and interest to your card and layout creations.  I would like to share four different embossed paper techniques that you can use on your next project.

core' dinations core Impressions: Cosmo Cricket Neutrals Collection cardstock paper is a great place to start your projects because half the work is already done for you with their embossed textures like woodgrain, printed letters, polka dots, and handwriting paper.

Technique #1: Sanding the embossed images reveals the inner core of the papers. This allows the raw inner core to be further enhanced with mists & inks.

On the above card I used woodgrain embossed texture cardstock for the card base and a die cut piece of the cursive embossed papers. I inked the card base around the edges and I sanded and misted  the grey die cut piece (lower left).

Technique #2: Ink the edges of the project and pop dot the printed papers over the top of the inked papers.

 Technique #3: Here is an example of sanded and inked embossed paper for the card's base.

 Technique #4: Sand, Tear and layer embossed pieces to create interest and dimension.
